Sales of cement in the Dominican Republic rose by 7.5 per cent by volume and 5.2 per cent by value in 2016 when compared with 2015 according to the country’s cement association, Adocem.
Domestic sales reached 4,247,468t in 2016 while in 2015 3,950,956t were delivered. In terms of value, cement sales rose from DOP15.233m (US$325,844) in 2015 to 16.03m the following year.
Exports saw their share fall from 23 per cent of total production in 2015 to 17.3 per cent in 2016 - or in volume terms, from 1,191,614t in 2015 to 894,595t in 2016.
Cement production by Dominican cement plants remained largely stable at 5,171,069t (5,180,931 in 2015).
