Cement deliveries in Colombia decreased by 5.5 per cent YoY to 12.102Mt in 2016 from 12.807Mt in 2015, according to the latest figures published by DANE, the national statistics service.
While sales in Atlántico and Antioquia rose by seven and 3.5 per cent, respectively, Cesar and Casanare reported a market contraction of 24.8 and 20.5 per cent, respectively. In Bogotá, cement dispatches fell 7.8 per cent YoY.
Output in 2016 fell by 4.2 per cent from 13.047Mt in 2015 to 12.495Mt.
Figures for December show a nine per cent drop in cement sales to 1.007Mt from 1.107Mt reported in December 2015, when the highest volume for the December month since 2009 was recorded. Sales experienced their highest rise in Antioquia as they increased by 13.6 per cent while in Norte de Santander the market contracted by 34.5 per cent.
Cement production in December 2016 decreased by 9.2 per cent YoY.
