Lafarge-Algérie's Oggaz cement plant increased its cement output by 10 per cent in the last quarter to meet the country’s growing cement demand, according to plant manager, Jean-Louis Sibiede.
In the past three months, the works produced 0.953Mt, including 0.844Mt of grey cement.
The company converted part of the plant’s white cement production lines to produce grey cement to meet growing demand from developers and wilaya authorities. The authorities are currently carrying out three major project: a motorway linking the town of Mascara to the East-West Motorway, improving drinking water supply through the desalination of seawater and the construction of apartments for rent.
Last year, the company delivered 1.5Mt of cement to its customers and is aiming for higher sales this year. In 2016 the plant carried out improvements in the works’ wastewater treatment to reduce water volumes by 30 per cent, saving 33,000m3.
