Vietnam is the second most important supplier of cement and clinker to the USA. Vietnamese imports amounted at 4.1Mt in 2024. The 46 per cent tariff imposed by the USA on Vietnamese imports – one of the highest announced by the USA – could significantly curtail Vietnamese imports and dent activity at export-facing cement and clinker producers. As of 11 April, the tariff had been suspended for 90 days pending discussions.
