The construction of the new cement works in Potosí, Bolivia, is moving ahead as the movement of land at the site is scheduled to start in two months’ time, according to Williams Cervantes Beltrán, the town’s mayor.
The new plant represents a total investment of US$306m, including the mobilisation and exploitation of the limestone deposits and operating expenses. The construction of the plant itself is expected to cost around US$241m. Last March the Bolivian government awarded the contract to construct the new plant to a consortium of Germany-based thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions and Spanish companies Imasa and Valoriza (Sacyr Group).
