Pakistan nine-month sales up 7% YoY

Cement sales in Pakistan increased by seven per cent YoY in the first nine months of the current fiscal to reach 30.304Mt, latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reveals. Of this total, domestic demand was up by 11 per cent but exports fell by 15 per cent.

In March 2017 alone, sales almost totalled 4Mt versus 3.583Mt in the same period a year earlier. However, exports plunged by 60 per cent during the month.

A spokesperson for the APCMA said that cement consumption during 9MFY16-17 increased by 10.26 per cent in the north region and and by 14 per cent in the south. By contrast, exports from the north fell by 10 per cent and were down by 14 per cent in the south.
