As of May, LafargeHolcim intends to double its production capacity in Côte d’Ivoire to 2Mta.
The expansion will primarily be the result of a new crusher with a capacity of 1Mta, which is currently being installed.
"Lafarge Holcim CI is now, more than ever, organised to meet the increasing demand of the market. The construction of our new crusher will be completed within a month. It's a big investment that will allow us to produce an additional million tonnes of cement incrementally, starting in May, " said Xavier Saint Martin Tillet, CEO of LafargeHolcim Côte d’Ivoire.
The project represents an investment of around US$24.5m and will increase total domestic output to 5.1Mt. The country’s cement consumption currently stands at around 3.7Mta.
