Cement price increases to HNL216 in Tegucigalpa

The retail price of cement in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has increased to HNL216/bag (US$9.21/42.5kg) in the last few weeks, reports El Heraldo.

In other parts of the country cement is cheaper with prices ranging between HNL197-205/bag.

Domestic cement production has risen in the last two years, according to a report by the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH). Output increased from 35.8m bags in 2014 to 40.2m bags in 2015 and continued this trend the following year when Honduras cement producers manufactured 43.4m bags. Estimates for this year indicate a production volume of 48m following the start-up of the San Lorenzo plant by Cementos Argos.
