McInnis Cement announced the production of the first cement on Friday, 16 June 2017, in line with the company’s schedule.

“This important milestone marks the work of hundreds of employees, workers and partners who have helped make our plant a performance model for the cement industry, both in terms of productivity and environment,” said Hervé Mallet, President and CEO of McInnis Cement.

“With the production of the first cement, our team has commenced the various tests required in our laboratories. Preliminarily, the results obtained over the last few hours are in line with our expectations,” the company added.

Located in Port-Daniel-Gascons (PDG) on the eastern shores of Quebec Province, Canada, McInnis Cement is the first new North American cement plant to be constructed in more than 50 years. With the very latest technologies installed, the plant will produce 2.2Mta of cement. The company also operates its own distribution network in both Canada as well as the United States.
