Cement sales in Morocco have fallen 5.3 per cent in the first four months of 2017 YoY following a 3.5 per cent rise the previous year, according to the Moroccan Economics and Finance Ministry.
The fall has been attributed to the drop in sales in Marrakech-Safi (-11.7 per cent), Casablanca-Setta (-6.7 per cent), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (-9.7 per cent) and Oriental (-10.4 per cent). Growth in Souss-Massa (+6.9 per cent), Guelmim-Oued Noun (+51.1 per cent, Fès-Meknès (+4.4 per cent), Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (+27.9 per cent and Drâa-Tafilalet (+2.8 per cent) was unable to offset the contraction of the former regional markets.
