Argentine cement consumption edged up one per cent MoM and 19.8 per cent YoY in July 2017. Demand reached 1,016,590t.

Imports surged from 982t in July 2016 to 8692t one year later. When compared with June 2017, they advanced 6.2 per cent from 8188t.

Total cement dispatches (including exports) by domestic cement producers reached 1,011,689t, a 0.9 per cent increase MoM and a 18.8 per cent rise YoY, in July 2017. The figure includes 3791t of exports, up 1.7 per cent YoY and 1.5 per cent MoM.

However, in the first seven months of 2017, Argentina’s cement demand advanced 10.3 per cent from 5,889,637t in 7M16 to 6,498,648t in 7M17.

Importers enjoyed a bountiful seven months as import volumes rocketed from 2944t in 7M16 to 36,858t one year later.

Total cement dispatches rose 10.2 per cent from 5,931,709t in 7M16 to 6,538,666t in 7M17. This included a 4.9 per cent YoY fall in exports from 42,072t to 40,018t.
