Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico for the year through June were 44.7Mt, up slightly from those during the same period of 2016, according to the latest figures from the US Geological Survey.

Shipments in June 2017 were about 9.4Mt, essentially unchanged from shipments in June 2016. The leading producing states for Portland and blended cement in June 2017 were Texas, California, Missouri, Florida and Michigan, in descending order, and these accounted for 41 per cent of the month’s total sales. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois, in descending order) received about 37 per cent of the June shipments.

Clinker production totalled 6.8Mt in June, down slightly from the output in June 2016. The leading clinker-producing states in June were, in descending order, California, Texas, Missouri, Florida and Michigan, which together accounted for 50 per cent of the month’s total production. Clinker production for the year through June totalled 35.8Mt, down slightly from that of the same period in 2016.
