The Fives Group has become a founding member of the Centre for Technologies, Minerals and Recycled Materials of the Future (CTMRMF), a new association that aims to develop the industrial recycling of minerals for the construction and public works sectors.

Fives’ Innovation Department and its subsidiary Fives FCB joined Team2 to found the associate in May 2017. The consortium is made up of players from both industry and research sectors and aims to develop the circular economy through industrial innovation.

Fives noted in a statement yesterday that the major challenge for the CTMRMF will be the installation of a ‘hub’ to coordinate and test byproducts valorisation as well as the use of raw materials recovered from recycling. This hub, located in a former cement plant owned by EQIOM group in Dannes (Pas-de-Calais, France), will rely on the expertise of the association’s members in terms of innovation, technology and R&D, to develop new recycling solutions and improve the existing recovery processes.

Fives FCB’s offering includes technologies in crushing, grinding, classifying and pyroprocess in the minerals industry. These technologies and equipment can be used to process demolition waste. For instance, the FCB Rhodax® 4D can process concrete to sort the cement from the aggregates, which can then be reused.

"This centre will allow the fulfillment of specific tests on an industrial scale to enable industries to verify the results and launch new environmentally-friendly solutions that are both economic and efficient," the company said.
