Cementos Cienfuegos SA, the largest cement plant in Cuba, is gradually restarting cement production following the passage of Hurricane Irma.
Irma caused some damage to the plant and saw the insulation of the ESPs, cables and the intake of water in the dyke of Codicia affected. The expert team at the plant also faced issues with key fan control systems.
Power was restored on 14 September and crews had been working continuously to light the 3000tpd kiln, which took place on 19 September. The mills were also restarted so 5000t of stored clinker could be ground to cement.
The plant currently is back to carrying out round-the-clock deliveries to enable the country’s rehabilitation from Irma.
