Loesche is supplying a Compact Cement Grinding (CCG) plant for Siam City Cement Ltd (Lanka) which will be used in the Galle harbour area on the southern tip of Sri Lanka, as part of an expansion
of the Ruhunu cement plant.
A wide variety of cement types can be produced with the 0.5Mta CCG plant, which consists of a vertical roller mill. With this mill, clinker and granulated blast furnace slag are ground into Portland limestone cement and Portland slag cement with a throughput of up to 60tph.
A big advantage of the Loesche CCG plant is that it can be quickly and easily adjusted to different products. As a result, Siam City Cement can react flexibly to changed market conditions and also has the option of trying product test runs for new markets.
The CCG also offers low specific energy consumption and easy maintenance, says Loesche. Moreover, thanks to its modular structure, the Loesche CCG is ready for operation after a short, low-cost assembly period.
The delivery time to the Ruhunu cement plant will take only eight months, meaning the grinding plant can be put into operation as early as June 2018.
The Ruhuni works with a production capacity of 1Mta, according to the most recent figures, is operated under the Siam City Cement brand INSEE, which has recently emerged from a takeover of the cement activities of Holcim Lanka.
