The Cameroon subsidiary of Nigeria’s Dangote Cement Group (Nigeria) has captured a 45 per cent share of the local market only two years after launching activities in the country, according to a report in Journal du Cameroun.
“We can say that we are above 45 per cent”, said Mr Diekam, the commercial director of Dangote Cement Cameroon. This has been achieved in spite of a competitive market place that features four multinationals including CIMENCAM, a subsidiary of LafargeHolcim (Switzerland), the previous monopoly leader whose market share is now estimated at 40 per cent. The remaining two players, MEDCEM (Turkey) and CIMAF (Morocco) share the remaining 15 per cent of the market, the report states.
