Lucky completes 1.3Mta expansion line in Karachi

Lucky Cement has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on 18 December that construction and installation work for its 1.3Mta brownfield kiln line at its Karachi plant in Sindh province, Pakistan, has been successfully completed on time.

A bourse filing of company says: "The new line was made operational with commencement of clinker production on 12 December 2017. With the addition of this new line in Karachi for 1.3Mt and certain efficiency improvements brought about recently in the other two production lines in the north plant for another 0.3Mt the total production capacity of the company has now increased from previous 7.75Mt to 9.35Mta."

Lucky Cement 1Q17 sales up
The company achieved an overall growth of 5.9 per cent with total sales volume of 1.8Mt during the first quarter compared to 1.7Mt last year. While local sales volume of Lucky Cement registered a growth of 14.3 per cent to 1.54Mt during the first quarter compared to 1.34Mt during the same period last year.

Export sales volume declined by 25.3 per cent to 0.27Mt during the first quarter compared to 0.36Mt during the same period last year.
