Cement sales in Puerto Rico decreased by 11.2 per cent in 2017, seeing declines in September, October, November and December, reports Sin Comillas.
The fall in sales has been attributed to a weak economy following the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria, but sales have declined since 2013. In 2016 they decreased by 12.3 per cent, following reductions of 8.5 and 9.8 per cent in 2015 and 2014, respectively.
Output by the country’s cement producers contracted 14.2 per cent in 2017, following a 11.5 per cent drop in 2016.
