Vietnamese cement producers have reduced their retail prices by VND10,000-170,000/t (US$0.44-7.48/t) since the start of this year, according to the Vietnam Ministry of Finance’s Price Management Department.

The price cut has been attributed to the falling exports that have left a glut in the domestic market. In addition, cement plants had been producing at full capacity to reduce unit costs.

At present, retail prices for cement in the north and central region are between VND950,000-1.45m/t. In the south, cement retails at VND1.26m-1.75m/t.

The FOB prices of cement and clinker exports in Cam Pha port in Quang Ninh, northern Vietnam, are currently US$46.50/t and US$30/t, respectively, reports Viet Nam News.
