The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) has suspended licences to produce cement for several companies in Nepal after they failed to meet manufacturing standards.
Among the companies facing action are Dang-based Ghorahi Cement, Mega Cement of Jhapa, Narayani Cement Industry of Bara, International Cement in Birgunj, Gorakhkali Cement Industries of Jhapa, Annapurna Cement in Morang, MJP Cement and Ganapati Cement of Kapilvastu, Hongsi Cement Industry of Nawalparasi, Arghakhanchi Cement Industry in Rupandehi and Shubha Shree Jagadamba Cement Industry in Bara.
Director General of NBSM, Bishwo Babu Pudasaini, said action has been taken against these companies which manufactured products without meeting the necessary standard and quality. The licence of most of the companies facing action has been suspended, and the sale and distribution of their products stopped.
