In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, total cement deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2018 increased two per cent YoY to 1,088,196t from 1,067,145t in the 4Q17, according to Cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association.
For the full year, deliveries edged up 0.2 per cent to 4.289Mt from 4.272Mt.
While import data are not yet available, they are expected to show lower imports due to reduced demand in the Swiss construction industry.
Some 51.5 per cent of cement was supplied by rail, but the share delivered by road increased slightly in 2018.
