Uzbekistan blocks export of cement from Kyrgyzstan, MP Azamat Arapbaev said at the meeting of the Kyrgyz parliamentary committee of economic and fiscal policy, according to Central Asia News.
Several Kyrgyz cement companies located in the south of the country export some of their output to Uzbekistan. “They can’t supply cement solely to our market, it is small, enterprises will stand idle then. We need to find out why such restrictions were imposed,” the lawmaker said.
Talks were reportedly held with the ambassador of Uzbekistan. If unsuccessful, the Kyrgyz government will dispatch a delegation to Uzbekistan, said Minister of the Economy, Oleg Pankratov.
