LafargeHolcim has ordered a Gebr Pfeiffer MVR 2500 C-4 mill to grind cement in the port of Conakry at the Sonfonia cement plant, Guinea.
The VRM features a total drive power of 1300kW. The mill has been designed to grind 75tph of CEM IV 32.5 and 69tph of CEM IV 42.5 to a specific surface of 3440cm²/g and 3340cm²/g according to Blaine, respectively.
The MVR 2500 C-4 is Gebr Pfeiffer's current top-selling mill. Despite the relatively small grinding table diameter of 2.5m (compared to Gebr Pfeiffer's largest sold mills to date with a diameter of 6.7m), the mill offers active redundancy. This means that in the unlikely event of a grinding roller failing, the mill can continue to be operated at a throughput rate of 50-60 per cent. Only the roller opposite the roller that failed must additionally be swung out – the other two rollers remain in operation.
The order for the mill was placed by the Chinese general contractor CBMI.
