Pakistan's cement export revenue for the first 11 months of the current July 2018-May 2019 fiscal recorded a YoY growth of 26 per cent and 46.2 per cent in terms of dollar value and quantity, respectively, according to Pakistan's Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The country's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenues of US$260.16m by exporting 6.12Mt of cement and clinker during the 11MFY18-19, compared to US$206.52m at 4.19Mt in the same period last year.
In terms of export value in Pakistani rupee, exports advanced 54.6 per cent during this period to PKR34.75bn (US$212m). However, the value in US dollars fell 13.8 per cent from US$49.26/t to US$42.45/t.
In May 2019 the country's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenues of US$17.05m by exporting 395,152t, compared to US$21.86m at 526,290t in the previous month and US$20.78m from 449,097t during May 2018. On a MoM basis this shows a decrease of 22 per cent and 24.9 per cent in terms of value and volume, respectively. This translates to a 18 per cent and 12 per cent rise in YoY terms.
