Bestway Cement wins Annual Environmental Excellence Award 2019

Bestway Cement Ltd (BCL) has won the16th Annual Environment Excellence Awards 2019 for its vision and effective implementation of environmentally-friendly policies at all of its four plants in Hattar, Farooqia, Chakwal and Kallar Kahar, Pakistan. The event was organised last week in Karachi by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH).

Bestway is a pioneer in establishing Pakistan’s first waste heat recovery power plant (WHRPP) at a cost of US$47m. It is one of the few companies in the industry with efficient WHRPPs at all of its plants, reducing dependency on the national grid.

Furthermore, Bestway Cement is a leader in water conservation by being the first cement producer in the country to employ the air-cooled condenser (ACC) systems instead of the conventional water-cooled systems. Moreover, the company is the only cement producer in the country that has started rain harvesting.

In addition, Bestway's cement plants follow a comprehensive plan to keep its plants green with extensive annual plantation while having thousands of olive, citrus and other fruit plants in its orchards at each plant location.
