A vessel carrying clinker which capsized in the Meghan River at Birbir, Bangaldesh on Tuesday could not be immediately salvaged. The MV Tanvir Tousib-2 was anchored at Birbir on the high-tide but was struck by another vessel, the Bashundhara Food-1.
The MV Tanvir Tousib-2 was carrying clinker to Dhaka. The cost of the loss could be as much as BDT200m (US$2.36m) according to Khairul Alam, master of the ship. Attempts to salvage the ship were due to be attempted on Wednesday evening.
