Total Vietnamese cement sales reached 8.196Mt in September 2019, up two per cent YoY and one per cent MoM, according to the latest data by the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total, 5.537Mt was sold on the domestic market, a YoY improvement of four per cent (+7 per cent MoM), while 2.659Mt was exported. Exports saw a four per cent YoY and nine per cent MoM decline.
VICEM sales in September 2019 increased by two per cent YoY and 13 per cent MoM to 1.836Mt. However, its joint ventures saw sales fall by nine per cent YoY to 1.401Mt, the same level of the previous month. Other Vietnamese cement producers reported a 16 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM rise in sales to 2.3Mt in September 2019.
Cement exports were up 13 per cent YoY and one per cent MoM to 0.809Mt. Clinker exports fared less well, noting a nine per cent YoY and 13 per cent MoM decline to 1.85Mt.

In the first nine months of 2019 Vietnamese producers sold 71.587Mt of cement, representing a one per cent rise when compared with the 9M18. Domestic sales advanced two per cent YoY to 48.052Mt while exports slipped one per cent to 23.535Mt.
Vietnamese cement producers saw mixed success in the domestic market. While VICEM reported a three per cent YoY increase in sales to 16.2Mt, its joint ventures posted a four per cent YoY fall in sales to 13.116Mt. Vietnam’s other producers saw their sales improve by seven per cent YoY to 18.736Mt.
Cement exports advanced 35 per cent to 8.615Mt but were unable to offset the 15 per cent drop in clinker exports, which fell to 14.92Mt.
