Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 4.6 per cent YoY to 1.078Mt in September 2019 when compared with 1.031Mt in September 2018, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office. While bulk sales picked up by 1.2 per cent, bagged sales rose by 6.3 per cent.

Cement production by Colombian cement plants edged up one per cent to 1.094Mt in September 2019 from 1.083Mt in the year-ago period.

In the first nine months of 2019, the domestic market has expanded by four per cent to 9.242Mt. Bulk sales advanced by 4.7 per cent while for bagged sales saw a 3.6 per cent rise.

DANE attributes the increase in sales mainly to a rise in dispatches to Bolívar (+21.8 per cent), Meta (+15.6 per cent), Antioquia (+8 per cent) and Valle del Cauca (+7.1 per cent).

Output rose by 4.2 per cent YoY to 9.555Mt in the January-September 2019 period.
