Cementos Tudela Veguin has inaugurated its new terminal at El Musel, Gijón, Spain. The new terminal will enable the company to receive and store cement in a 4500m2 warehouse. Bulk and bagged product from the facilities of Masaveu Industria will be handled at the terminal. The terminal facilities also include a 1250m berth for ships with a 23dwt draught.
This is an investment of EUR5.5m that "will allow our cement activity to be more ecologically sustainable, energy efficient and more economically viable," Fernando Masaveu said during the opening ceremony. «In these times the depletion of the Asturian cement markets, which only consume six per cent of our production, make export and competitiveness essential elements for the survival and operation of our Aboño factory and the consolidation of its jobs work,” he added.
In addition, the construction of the terminal is in line with EU environmental regulations, which call for the use of closed systems or hoppers, bonded tape with telescopic loading systems as well as nebulising systems to ensure the control of dust.
