The Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade, Mian Aslam Iqbal, has announced that the government for Punjab, India, has lifted a ban on the cement industry after 12 years.
The minister revealed this while presiding over a meeting that was held to review investment in the cement industry and installation of new plants in the province, according to the Business Recorder. Mr Iqbal noted that months were spent in getting a no objection certificate (NoC) for setting up new industries.
A special handling cell has been set up in the industries department to deal with the installation of cement plants. The issuance of NoC is expected to be made simple so as to facilitate the investors. The minister also stated that the latest technology should be utilised for setting up cement plants in order to use the minimum amount of water.
