Cement sales in Puerto Rico declined 3.6 per cent YoY in October 2022 to 1.17m bags of 42.6kg, or 49,842t, according to the country’s Statistics Institute. In November 2022 sales dropped 11.5 per cent YoY to 1.1m bags, or 46,860t.
In 2021 Puerto Rican cement sales totalled 15.6m bags (664,560t), up 12.5 per cent YoY and the highest annual sales since 2013.
Cement production
Domestic cement production decreased by 10.1 per cent to 653,900 bags (27,856t) in October 2022 when compared with October 2021. However, in November output from Puerto Rican cement plants was up by 29.8 per cent to 658,700 bags (28,060t) – the first increase in three months.
In 2021 output declined by 29.5 per cent to 7.4m bags, or 315,240t, continuing the declining trend of three years.
