CEMEX has launched of a new range of bio-sourced admixtures designed for a reduced carbon footprint. These admixtures use natural, renewable and locally-sourced raw materials and may achieve a carbon footprint up to 70 per cent lower than traditional oil-based admixtures.

Thanks to a unique production process, CEMEX’s admixtures are the first in the building materials industry to deliver these attributes while utilising bio-based raw materials, claims the company. The new range of admixtures is part of CEMEX’s portfolio of Vertua building solutions with enhanced sustainability attributes. The products are expected to be launched across CEMEX’s markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and will roll out to other markets in the coming months.

• ISOPLAST BIO: concrete plasticiser may achieve higher levels of workability with the same water content, that may enable a carbon reduction of up to 10 per cent
• ISOFLEX BIO: concrete plasticisers and superplasticisers that may reduce carbon and water use by up to 20-30 per cent
• ISOFLOW BIO: high-performance superplasticiser technology for ready-mix concrete producers, that may enable water and carbon reductions of up to 50 per cent in concrete mix designs
• ISOMILL BIO: grinding aids and cement enhancers that may provide a carbon reduction of up to 10 per cent, higher process efficiency and enhanced strength.
