The 66th IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Conference and Exhibition in Denver, Colorado, USA, announced a record attendance of 1200 delegates, as the technical sessions began on 30 April 2024. Brian Keefe, Bridge Gap Engineering’s managing director, opened the technical sessions and thanked the team of 61 volunteers that made up the organising committee for this year’s event.
The record attendance was supported by a strong international representation with delegates attending from 25 countries and an international exhibition. Jonathan Dennis, chair of the 2024 Denver local organising committee, advised all attendees to push the industry forward under this year’s conference’s theme of ‘Advancing technologies and practices that minimise the impact of cement manufacturing'.
The keynote presentations were led by motivational speaker Jim Abbott, a former baseball pitcher who played for the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels and the 1988 US Gold medal Olympic team. The conference continues with a full programme of technical papers on 30 April and 1 May and a plant tour of GCC’s Pueblo plant on 2 May.
