Heidelberg Materials Hispania has appointed Carlos Sánchez Galán as its new general manager, replacing Jesús Ortiz Used, who has held this position for the past 18 years. Until his appointment as general manager, which took effect on 1 January, Carlos Sánchez Galán held the position of Commercial Director of Cement and Operations Director of Aggregates and Concrete of the Spanish subsidiary of the multinational group Heidelberg Materials.
Mr Sánchez Galán has extensive experience at Heidelberg Materials. He joined the group in 1997 as Director of the Canary Islands Region. Since then, he has held various management positions in the Business Development area, as well as in the commercial operations and purchasing department in Spain. In addition, he has been the representative of Heidelberg Materials in various national and international sector associations. His extensive experience covers operations management, business development and procurement, with a focus on operational excellence, sustainability and regulatory compliance.
Carlos Sánchez Galán said: “My goal is to continue and expand the legacy of innovation and sustainability that we have build at Heidelberg Materials Hispania under the direction of Jesús Ortiz. Decarbonisation will continue to be a key priority, and I am committed to carrying forward the projects already underway, as well as exploring new opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, an essential step to maintain our current leadership position and growth ,” said Mr Sánchez Galán.
