Cemvision, the Swedish green cement producer, has announced one of the UK’s first known commercial deployments of high-performing low-carbon cement, at EQT Exeter's STOREX self storage development in Sunbury, UK.
This marks a precedent towards greener building practices in the UK, as Cemvision begins its strategic expansion into the market. Cemvision and STOREX have signed a Letter of Intent for multiplied use of Cemvision’s products in the UK and other markets.
In Sunbury, Cemvision is deploying its innovative Re-ment technology for the development of foundational slabs, using Re-ment Massive to replace traditional Portland cement. Recent testing conducted at Sandberg’s concrete laboratory demonstrated exceptional performance results, including 28-day compressive strength reaching the C50/60 classification and a 75 per cent CO2 reduction compared to Portland cement. These results establish Cemvision as a 'market-beating' solution under the UK 2024 LCCG Benchmark, setting a new standard for sustainable and high-performing construction materials.
“This project is a landmark achievement for Cemvision as we bring the benefits of green cement to UK customers,” says Oscar Hållén, CEO of Cemvision.
“Working alongside STOREX and leading technical partners in architecture, engineering, and planning, we are committed to showcasing the scalability and climate benefits of our technology in the UK market.”
London-based ready-mixed concrete producer Capital Concrete has been at the forefront of new technologies and low-carbon concrete solutions. Jack Sindhu, technical director for Capital Concrete, says: 'The Cemvision product stands out. It is easy to batch, works seamlessly with traditional aggregates and admixtures, and consistently achieves the right consistency and specified characteristic strength. We’re pleased to have found it.”
