India based Dalmia Bharat Ltd announced in a regulatory filing that Dalmia Cement (North East) Ltd has commenced commercial production at its newly expanded 2.4Mta grinding unit in Lanka, Hojai district, Assam. The extra capacity aims to serve growing cement demand in the northeastern region and strengthening the company’s presence in the area.
The project required an investment of INR6.96bn, which has been financed through a mix of equity, debt and internal accruals.
The new capacity brings the company’s total capacity to 49Mta and capacity utilisation stands at 60 per cent on a pro-rata basis.
