Lafarge-Tarmac signs Cookstown waste fuels agreement

The UK's Environment Minister, Mark H Durkan, and Devendra Mody, Industrial Director of Lafarge Tarmac, on Saturday signed an agreement allowing the use of waste-derived fuels at the company's Cookstown cement works, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. SITA to start commissioning new SRF facility, UK

SITA UK is to start the commissioning process for its solid recovered (SRF) plant in Rugby to be used at Cemex UK's local cement works. Hungary: Magyarország plant invests in alternative fuels storage facility

Lafarge Cement Magyarország opened a storage facility for waste that will be used to help fuel its plant in Királyegyháza, southwestern Hungary. The project, involving an investment of HUF700m (EUR2.2m), will be used to store plastic, rubber and  industrial and farm byproducts. Lafarge Cement Magyarország employs 130 people, and reported revenues of HUF8.3bn last year.

The Cement Association of Canada (CAC) congratulates Premier Wynne and Minister Murray for proposing new regulations to help Ontario's energy-intensive industries reduce their reliance on coal and their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Saudi: City Cement Co invest in alternative energy project

City Cement Co intends to invest SAR25m (US$6.7m) in an alternative energy project, the Saudi-based producer said in a bourse statement yesterday. The project, anticipated to be completed by the end of the first half of 2015, will be carried out by Chinese engineering company Sinoma. Without providing further details, City Cement said it will use own funds and/or Murabaha financing for the initiative.
