The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association has proposed a number of incentives to facilitate the industry ahead of tomorrow’s 2014-15 Budget announcement. Cementos Cosmos lodges alternative fuels appeal

Cementos Cosmos has lodged an appeal with Andalusia’s Committee of Environment and Spatial Planning as the cement producer was denied an amendment to its Integrated Environmental Authorisation for the Niebla plant. The amendment, if granted, would allow Cementos Cosmos to burn waste-derived fuel, replacing fossil fuels. GCC’s Pueblo plant starts TDF usage

GCC’s Pueblo plant in Colorado has begun utilising tyre-derived fuel (TDF) in its manufacturing process. The plant team is targeting an eventual fuel replacement of 50 per cent of calciner fuel, which equates to 30 per cent of total fuel. The company expects to replace 40,000tpa of coal. GCC plans to further investigate available fuels and raw materials to further its sustainability program, reduce environmental impacts and make its operations more eco-efficient.

Titan America has begun turning selected wastes into alternative fuel for use at its Pennsuco plant in Medley, Florida. The company works with a unit of Republic Services in Fort Lauderdale that collects refuse from businesses, mostly in Broward County.
