Colombia's cement market contracts 14.4% YoY in Oct

Cement consumption in Colombia fell 14.4 per cent to 0.994Mt in October 2016 from 1.162Mt in October 2015, according to the latest figures by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Domestic cement production in October reached 1.076Mt, down 11 per cent YoY. In the first 10 months of 2016, domestic dispatches saw a 5.2 per cent drop to 10.077Mt when compared with 10.632Mt reported in October 2015. Cement production reached 10.388Mt, down four per cent YoY.

Argentinian cement demand falls 17.9% YoY in October

Argentina’s cement market contracted 17.9 per cent YoY and 7.1 per cent MoM in October 2016 as 925,678t (from 1,128,015t in October 2015) of cement were delivered to domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the country’s cement association, AFCP. In September 2016 Argentina’s cement plants dispatched 1,003,457t of cement, including exports, which represents a MoM fall of 4.1 per cent and a YoY drop of 11.1 per cent, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP), the country's cement association. Indonesia: 8% growth predicted for 2017 consumption

According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), Widodo Santoso, national cement consumption is expected to grow by 8.04 per cent in 2017, reaching 68Mt. The growth is expected to come as a result of steady overall growth and higher demand for building materials for public projects. Morocco’s cement demand fell by 19.1 per cent to 832,930t in September, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy. Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra showed the largest monthly drop at 48.4 per cent to 12,200t, followed by Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab which saw consumption fall from 2176t in September 2015 to 1589t one year later. Swiss cement sales up 2% in 3Q16

Swiss cement deliveries increased two per cent YoY in 3Q16, according to the Swiss cement association, Cemsuisse. In the first nine months of this year, domestic deliveries advanced 5.1 per cent. In 2015 Swiss cement deliveries reached 4.22Mt for the full year, representing a 7.9 per cent YoY drop from 4.58Mt.
