Colombia: market expands 2.7% in May 2015

Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 2.7 per cent YoY to 1.062Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. The increase is primarily the result of an 8.7 per cent rise in the construction and contractors segment, which expanded by 8.7 per cent. Colombia: Feb cement sales up 6.1%

Colombia saw a 6.1 per cent YoY rise in cement dispatches in February as 985,300t of the product were delivered, according to DANE, the national statistics office. The largest increases were experienced in Nariño (+52.1 per cent), Bolívar (+37 per cent), Antioquia (+17 per cent) and Bogotá (7.7 per cent). Colombia dispatches up 14.5% in January

The Colombian cement market expanded by 14.5 per cent YoY in January 2015 as the country’s cement producer dispatched 927,800t of cement, according to the latest figures by national statistics office, Dane. Output rose 8.3 per cent to 0.9Mt when compared with January 2014. The strongest demand growth occurred in Nariño (+165 per cent), Cesar (+37 per cent), Magdalena (+36 per cent),  while Antioquia and Bolivar saw dispatches rise by 25 per cent.

Cement dispatches in Colombia saw a 5.5 per cent YoY expansion to 1.09Mt in October 2014, according to the latest data published by Dane, the country’s statistics office. While construction companies and contractors consumed some 7.3 per cent less, this was offset by a 13.4 per cent sales advance in the retail segment. Colombian cement consumption increased 8.1 per cent to 1.059Mt in July 2014 when compared with the same month a year ago, according to the country's statistics office, Dane. The rise has been attributed to a stronger demand from retail outlets and concrete companies. Increases were strongest in Huila (+25.6 per cent), Bolívar (+17.3 per cent), Cundinamarca (+16.2 per cent) and Antioquia (+9.8 per cent) while Córdoba saw demand fall by 25.4 per cent.
