Belarusian cement plants quadruple peat consumption in 2015-21

Belarusian cement plants increased the consumption of peat fuel by 4.36 times to 362,000t between 2015-21, according to Valery Kovalyov, vice CEO of Beltopgaz. “Peat fuel consumption by cement plants increased from 83,000t in 2015 to 362,000t in 2021,” Mr Kovalyov said in an interview with Beltopgaz’ corporate journal. Cement plants account for 44 per cent of total peat fuel sales and have been actively substituting imported natural gas with locally-available peat products.

Iskitimcement ups output by 20%

Russia-based JSC Iskitimcement (owned by JSC HC Sibcem) produced 1.18Mt of cement in 2021, representing a 20 per cent YoY rise. The company also advanced sales by 21 per cent to 1.19Mt in the year. The OAO Krichevcementnoshifer Cement plant in Kirchev, Mogilev Oblast, Belarus increased its cement production by 10.5 per cent YoY in 2021 to 2.001Mt, the company administration told PrimePress. Preparations start for new plant in the Kyrgyz Republic

A total of 10ha of land have been transformed in the village of Tunuk-Suu, in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic to build a cement plant, reports Central Asia News. Kazakh cement producer Steppe Cement saw its revenue increase 16 per cent to KZT36.02bn (US$82.7m) in 2021 as it sold 1,688,544t of cement, up from the 1,645,744t reported in 2020. The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) saw a 64 per cent YoY increase in cement export transactions in January-December 2021 to US$15.2m, according to the exchange’s press service.
