Cemex announces that the Carbon Trust has validated its roadmap to decarbonise global operations in line with the Sectoral Decarbonisation Approach (SDA) 2-degree scenario (2DS) developed by the International Energy Agency (IEA). Maple Leaf looks to expand WHR capacity

Pakistan’s Maple Leaf Cement Factory Ltd has announced plans to expand capacity at its waste heat recovery plant to 25MW from 16MW. The project is expected to be worth INR1.8bn (US$24.38m) and is likely to be financed through debt. Sayeed Tariq Saigol, CEO, stated that the company has always endeavoured to reduce production costs and increasing its electricity production through the waste heat recovery plant will aid in this. BillerudKorsnäs reduces CO2 emissions by 5.4Mta

A study led by Peter Holmgren, forestry specialist and former Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), shows that BillerudKorsnäs' sales of cardboard, paper and pulp contribute to an annual reduction of 5.4Mt of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Emirates RDF set to begin production

Emirates RDF, a partnership between leading water treatment expert Besi, Griffin Refineries and Tech Group Eco, has announced that it is set to start the production of alternative fuel at its facility in Umm Al Quwain, UAE. The household waste collected will be converted into RDF and used as a fuel in cement factories. Once operational from 1 October, Emirates RDF will able to handle over 1000t of waste from the emirates of Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
