Greece’s Titan launches €4.8m RDF installation at Zlatna Panega plant

On 5 July, Titan put into operation a €4.8m (US$6.9m) refuse-derived fuel (RDF) installation at its Bulgarian plant in Zlatna Panega. The facility will process 25,000t of separated non-recyclable waste such as plastics, paper, wood, textiles and other solid waste and enable the cement plant to use the fuel for its kilns, thus replacing a quarter of its current fuel requirement and lowering the plant’s energy costs. Siam City Cement Plc (SCCC), the country’s second largest cement maker, has embarked on a sustainable development mission which includes targets to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 12% and to derive 40% of its sales from green products.
