Hanson Cement could face action over dust, UK

The UK Environment Agency is considering whether to take further action against Hanson Cement’s Padeswood factory following complaints by local residents affected by dust, the BBC reports. An agency spokesperson said it had identified the cause at the factory and Hanson Cement had taken action to rectify the problem. Apasco signs tyre deal, Mexico

Holcim Apasco, through its subsidiary Ecoltec, signed a collaboration agreement with this council, to process about 400,000 scrap tyres found in a municipal landfill, and to process the necessary energy for cement production. 
 The agreement was signed by the mayor, Benjamín Galván Gómez, and Ecoltec company representatives Ameneiro Alejandro and Carlos Juarez.

INC to begin tyre shredding, Paraguay

Paraguay’s National Cement Industry (INC) has acquired a tyre shredding machine to convert tyres to fuel for its cement works. “The tyres will be processed into 10 per cent of the total fuel needed,” Claudio Montiel, industrial manager of INC said.  Tyre shredding operations are expected to begin in three months.

Waste Recycling Group (WRG) in partnership with Cemex UK has been awarded preferred bidder status for UK-based North Lincolnshire Council’s 27-year waste contract. Plans to burn used tyres and plastics for energy at a South Wales industrial plant have sparked concerns among residents and environmentalists.
