A Kyrgyz lawmaker has called for the removal of the country’s ban on importing cement from Uzbekistan, highlighting the potential benefits for consumers and the local construction industry. President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan has launched the Terek Tash clinker factory in Kemin district.  The new 1.5Mta cement plant is an investment agreement between the government and the consortium of Terek Tash LLC and Zenit LLC. A cement plant and a small hydroelectric power station and a will be built in Tyup, Kyrgyzstan by Chinese investors, reports The office of the Presidential Envoy to Issyk-Kul region. Kyrgyzstan enforcing a six month import ban on range of cement

From 1 October Kyrgyzstan is enforcing a six-month road import ban on cement types including Portland, alumina and slag cements, according to a decree signed by Akylbek Japarov, chairman of the country's cabinet of ministers. The expansion of the construction market on an unprecedented scale has led to a critical cement shortage in Kyrgyzstan, according to Syrian Omorov, head of the regulated sectors department of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service. New cement plant on track for Kyrgyzstan

A new cement plant is set to launch in Chuy region, Kyrgyzstan in 2024. The plant will have a capacity of 1.7Mta and is expected to create 650 jobs. The plant will use ash dumps from the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant as raw materials and will have a waste heat recovery system to generate electricity. Kyrgyz cement output increases to 1.7Mt

Cement production in Kyrgyzstan has increased to 1.701Mt in the January-July 2023 period, according to the country’s National Statistical Committee. Of this total, 321,800t were produced in July 2023. When compared with an output of 1.5Mt in the 7M22, this represents an increase of 13.4 per cent YoY.

Cement production by Kyrgyz cement producers increased by 15.6 per cent to 323,700t in May 2023, according to the country’s National Statistical Committee. In the January-May 2023 period, cement output in the country increased by 11.9 per cent to 1.1Mta. Cement production in 2022 was up 7.1 per cent YoY to 2.7Mt.

Kyrgyzstan production up 7% in 2022

The Kyrgyz cement industry produced 2.666Mt of cement in 2022, according to the Eurasian Economic Commission. This represents a YoY increase of 7.1 per cent. Kazakhstan’s cement output reached 12.088Mt while in Russia cement plants produced 60.667Mt. Armenia’s cement output was over 1Mt, up by 17.7 per cent YoY.
