GCC announces overall increase in sales for 1H1926 July 2019, Published under Cement NewsMexico's Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) has announced a 1.3 per cent YoY increase in sales to US$403.9m for the first six months of 2019, against US$398.8m in the year-ago period. EBITDA declined five per cent to US$109.2m, while the EBITDA margin slipped 1.8 per cent to finish at 27 per cent. The 2Q19 saw a 3.5 per cent YoY rise in sales to US$240.5m from US$232.3m. In terms of destination of these shipments, around 63 per cent of Cemex’s total cement exports from Mexico were delivered to the USA, a further one per cent to Costa Rica and the balance to the rest of the Latin American region, including the Caribbean. Cinvestav produce cement using volcanic ash06 June 2019, Published under Cement NewsScientists at Mexico’s Centre for Research and Advanced Studies (Cinvestav) are using volcanic ash to make environmentally-friendly cement. First tests have shown that cement formulations that work contain up to 80 per cent of volcanic material, without the need for high-temperature kilns.
