The Port of Los Angeles has issued a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for a proposed low-carbon cement processing facility at the port in Wilmington. FCT Combustion  has recently commissioned a complete combustion system for one of the largest clinker lines in the USA. The pyroprocessing line uses natural gas as the main fuel. The scope supplied and commissioned by FCT included: • Gyro-Therm™ burner with trolley, gas valve train, and burner management system (BMS) • four calciner burners with associated valve train • two hot gas generators for cement mills, including BMS and other accessories.

Lafarge Canada's Exshaw plant signs 38.5MW solar power project

Lafarge Canada Inc ( Holcim )  and ATCO Ltd announced that they have entered into a 12.5-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA). Under this agreement, Lafarge’s Exshaw cement plant will receive 100 per cent of the solar energy produced by the 38.5MW Empress Solar project, meeting 34 per cent of the plant’s power requirements through 2036.
