Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico declined 8.9 per cent YoY to 7.3Mt, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The Biden administration is directing US$6bn in funding to speed up decarbonisation projects in energy-hungry industries such as cement, steel and aluminium making, which contribute nearly 25 per cent of US greenhouse gas emissions.
