Peru-based Cementos Pacasmayo SAA announced its consolidated results for the second quarter of 2022 and the six months ended 30 June 2022. 2Q22 In the second quarter of 2022 revenues increased 14.1 per cent YoY on the back of an increase in average prices of bagged cement. Cement consumption in Peru increased four per cent to 1.126Mt in June 2022 from 1.08Mt in June 2021, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Of this total, 1.067Mt was dispatched by Asocem members – representing a slight increase when compared with 1Mt in June 2021. Holcim Argentina to set up household waste processing plant in Mendoza

Holcim (Argentina) SA will set up a household waste processing plant in Las Heras, Mendoza province, Argentina, to process waste into an alternative fuel for Holcim’s cement plants. The project represents an investment of around US$10m. Commissioning is expected in 2023. Holcim currently uses on average 15 per cent alternative fuels to run its kilns in Argentina. Votorantim Cimentos awards new transport contract to VLI

A new contract has been signed between Votorantim Cimentos and logistics company VLI for the transportation of 625,000t of cement and petcoke. The petcoke, which is imported from the USA, will arrive in Brazil via VLI’s Inacio Barbosa Maritime Terminal. The cement cargo will be transported from Votorantim’s Laranjeiras works in Sergipe to the terminal to be transferred to other Votorantim units.

Cement sales in Brazil decline 5% in June

Sales of cement in Brazil saw a five per cent drop to 5.184Mt in June 2022 when compared with June 2021, according to the latest data by the Brazilian cement association, SNIC. Chilean cement market contracts 7% in May

Chile’s cement demand declined 6.7 per cent in May 2022 to 330,114t from 353,704t in May 2021, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. When compared with April 2022, the decrease was around 5.4 per cent from 313,101t. In the first five months of 2022 total cement consumption dropped 6.4 per cent YoY to 1,675,216t from 1,789,995t in the January-May 2021 period.

Grey cement dispatches in Colombia advance by 35.2 per cent to 1.104Mt in May 2022 from 0.816Mt in May 2021, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Peruvian cement dispatches saw a five per cent uptick in May 2022 to 1.117Mt from 1.066Mt in May 2021, according to the national cement association, Asocem.
