Vietnam 10M17 exports rise 23% YoY

Total cement exports from Vietnam rose to 15.12Mt in the first 10 months of 2017, representing a 22.9 per cent YoY increase. The country’s export earnings were up 13.9 per cent when compared with the year-ago period, reaching US$532.4m, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Taiwan Cement sees 14% rise in September revenues

Taiwan Cement Corp reported revenues of TWD8.071bn (US$266.8m) in September 2017, up 13.9 per cent from TWD7.087m in the year-ago period, according to a note filed to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. For the first nine months, the cement producer saw its revenues increase by 9.4 per cent YoY from TWD63.024bn in 9M16 to TWD68.952bn in 9M17. Taiwan Cement Corp is Taiwan's largest cement producer. It operates three plants at Hoping, Su'ao and Hualien with a total capacity of 9.5Mta.

Hsing Ta revenues up 34% YoY in Aug 2017

Taiwanese cement producer Hsing Ta sees revenues up 33.6 per cent to TWD487.484m (US$16.24m) in August 2017 from TWD364.687m in August 2016m, according to the Taiwan Stock Exchange. In the first eight months of 2017, the company’s revenues rose 20.2 per cent YoY from TWD2.68bn to TWD3.222bn.

TCC International issues positive profit alert

TCC International Holdings Ltd said it expects to swing to a profit for the first half of this year compared to a loss for the corresponding period of 2016. The Hong Kong-listed cement products manufacturer said an increase in product prices has helped earnings through the first half. It did not specify the expected profit for the January-June 2017 period. In the 1H16, TCC International posted a loss of HKD156.1m (US$20m).

Taiwan plans to lower cement cap on exports

The government of Taiwan plans to lower the cap on Taiwan's cement exports from over 20 per cent of total output to 15 per cent to help protect the environment, Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Yang Wei-fuu  has said. Asia Cement to restrict Sincheng mining activities

Asia Cement is to reduced its mining operations in Hualien County, Taiwan, by 40 per cent amid widespread criticism at the company’s mining activities at the Sincheng site. Asia Cement Corp has denied that it has been expanding mining operations in Hualien County, Taiwan,  following accusations by a filmmaker that mining has intensified at the site, the Tapei Times reports. Vietnam exported more than 1.9Mt of cement and clinker, reflecting an export value of US$67.4m, according to the country’s Customs Department. Taiwan Cement Corp, the country’s largest cement maker, yesterday announced a proposal to privatise its TCC International Holdings Ltd (TCCI) subsidiary and delist from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Vietnam exported 4.82Mt of cement and clinker worth US$168.65m in the first quarter of this year, representing 11 per cent increase YoY in volume and 6.4 per cent in value, according to the latest data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
